When Elvis Introduced Alison To the World.

The world came to know Elvis Costello on July 22, 1977, when “My Aim Is True” was released by now famed indie label Stif Records.

The album was recorded from 1976 to 77, as Elvis was backed by Clover, who were uncredited. Elvis, who went by D.P. Costello at the time, changed his name after The King himself Elvis Presley, as the label changed his image due to the rise of Punk in the UK.

The album didn’t initially hit, but when Costello formed, The Attractions, his new image and live shows pushed the album to number to 14 in the UK. My Aim Is True got mass critical acclaim, as the album became everybody’s favorite band’s favorite album, as it also gave us the iconic song “Alison”, which forever cursed anyone named Alison to endure having their name sung by anyone who knows the song.
