Escambia Co Evacuation Order Lifted, Shelters Closing

Red flags are flying at the beaches and you may have trouble finding gas (Residents are encouraged to use GasBuddy, a gas finding app, if they are having difficulties locating gas stations with gas), but Escambia County evacuees are going HOME this afternoon! Evacuation order will be lifted at 4pm; shelters close at 5pm.

Evacuations

  • The evacuations ordered for Zone A on Tuesday, Oct. 9  will be lifted at 4 p.m. today.  Zone A includes Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key and low-lying areas. 

Shelters 

The following shelters will be closing at 5 p.m. today, with the exception of the horse shelter, which will remain open until further notice. Any out of town evacuees will be assisted. 

  • General Population & Special Needs Shelters - Current Population: 169Pensacola Bay Center,  201 E. Gregory St.
  • Pet-friendly Shelter - Current Population: 29 people, 13 pets Molino Elementary School, 899 Highway 97
  • Horse Shelter - Current Population: 48 Escambia County Equestrian Center,  7750 Mobile Highway: Horses only. All horses must have a current Coggins test certificate.For more information, contact the Equestrian Center at 850-941-6042.
