Clay Travis: Myles Garrett is the 'Jussie Smollett' of the NFL

Clay Travis: “OF COURSE this happens right when you are in position to face substantial suspension punishment, and you decide to play the race card. If you were Myles Garrett and this occurred, then why wouldn’t he immediately say it right after the game?? I don’t believe Mason Rudolph said anything. If you look at all the evidence, this is a racism HAIL MARY in an attempt to lessen his punishment. Garrett waited a WEEK and didn’t say anything to anybody about this happening and then he decides to throw up this racism Hail Mary. If I was Rudolph, I would work with prosecutors in Cleveland to potentially bring charges against Garrett… Garrett should be ashamed of himself, and I were the NFL I would be interested in suspending him MORE games if you can prove he was lying considering all the boom mics that are everywhere, and given all the witnesses that were on the field, and none of them saw or heard anything like this. He went full Jussie Smollett on the NFL and its fans. If he had just owned up losing his mind and making a poor decision, I was inclined to forgive him, but now I find him to be thoroughly unlikeable.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Listen to Clay Travis explain why he thinks besieged Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has officially become the ‘Jussie Smollett’ of the NFL, a day after Garrett accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph of using a racial slur against him during his appeal with the NFL trying get his suspension reduced.

After Rudolph and his representation denounced the accusations and called them a flat out ‘lie’, the NFL swiftly released a statement hours later saying there wasn’t any evidence backing up Garrett’s assertions.

Clay called the stunt by Garrett a 'racism Hail Mary’ considering it appeared to be a desperate and last ditch effort to try and get his unprecedented season-long suspension reduced.

Smollett, of course, was and still is entangled in an ugly incident where he allegedly staged a fake hate crime, where he paid two men to be the assailants in a made-up assault on Smollett, that turned into the biggest news story in America. Smollett, known for his role on the show ‘Empire’ told to police that two men wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat beat him up and tied a noose around his neck. After this sparked a national outrage, it was later revealed that Smollett had staged the entire event.

Check out the audio below as Clay details why NFL fans would have eventually forgiven Garrett if he had just continued to remain contrite, instead of going the route he did.
